Eswatini, Lesotho, and South Africa are the only endemic home to the black wildebeest. It is distinguished by its long, white tail that resembles a horse, and it is smaller than the blue wildebeest, a close relative. Both males and females have horns that resemble hooks and curve forward, down, and then upward.
