Olivewoods Game Farm is situated on the “ Sunshine Coast “ of South Africa in the district of Seven Fountains and Salem about 100 km’s inland from the harbour city of Port Elizabeth on the tarred N2 Highway to the historically famous town of Grahamstown known as the “ City of Saints “
Olivewoods Game Farm is a privately owned and managed family game farm consisting of typical indigenous South African bushveld boasting numerous varieties of African game which roam freely over wide landscapes of mountains, valleys, woods and luscious green plains.

It is an excellent ecosystem for bushbuck, blue duiker and Cape grey buck, being some of the smallest protected South African species of antelope found living exclusively in this area. There is also a large diversity of African bird life found here for the discerning bird watcher.

Panoramic Views

The main lodge is located in the centre of the farm, built on a solid rock mountain giving panoramic views overlooking the valley floor and horse shoe river with its numerous weirs stocked with fresh water fish. With a beverage in the one hand from the terraces or splash pool, guests may observe game through the day within the comfort of traditional African environs from this magnificent vantage point. Lodge and accommodation furnishings are elegant with an African theme and include a half size professional snooker/pool table. A living, reading, dining and kitchen all in open plan décor make for ease and comfort.

Accommodation is in a private en-suite room with shower in a self-contained chalet adjacent to the main lodge, hosting a bar fridge with condiments of individuals choice, DSTV, a coffee and tea brewing facility and a small garden table with two chairs placed outside each chalet extending privacy and offering beautiful sunsets. All chalets are fitted with locking safes to house personal belongings during their stay. The 350 square meter lodge and its outer dwellings are surrounded by a non-lethal electric fence offering optimum security to our guests at all times.

There is an abundance of walking trails to enjoy nature up close and to observe game during sunrise, and sunset combined with a dirt road infrastructure accessible to the entire farm for game drives, hiking and mountain bike trails.

Hunting in South Africa

Hunting on Olivewoods Game Farm due to its unique setting and conservation outlook is by way of rifles or the bow method, and in all cases the walk and stalk method of pursue is practised with a one on one hunter professional hunter approach offering individual attention. Should the client’s preference not be attainable or available on Olivewoods Game Farm, the resident professional hunter being the son of the father (the outfitter) will have numerous alternate locations at his disposal to satisfy your trophy requirements.

Hunting in South Africa is possible through the year but the preferred periods during the year are from May through to September. English is the predominant language with South Africans having renowned reputations for their friendly and hospitable approaches. Olivewoods Game Farm offers the discerning hunter the option of most varieties of African antelope excluding those that are of danger to mankind and all the required facilities are available including abattoir, cold room, salt room and capers.

Olivewoods Game Farm has a dedicated Port Elizabeth based taxidermist of international status at its service who can be visited by arrangement prior to departing to the farm to view its completed sculptures for international and local clients who will on behalf of our client arrange all relative export permits and shipping requirements to their specified destination worldwide. Olivewoods Game Farm is centrally located amongst the mecca of internationally renowned malaria free game reserves and no prior medical precautions are necessary. Should our guests wish to incorporate alternate visits to potentially view the “BIG FIVE” or for want of change of scenery, relative arrangements can be made at short notice.

Should our guests have a flair for fishing, deep sea boat excursions can be arranged generally from the port of Port Elizabeth with other local venues being available which normally operate off the beach through the surf line or exiting river mouths

Exclusive Wildlife

Olivewoods Game Farm boasts a generous variety of African game which roams freely over non-fenced landscapes of mountains, valleys, woods and luscious green plains. It is an excellent ecosystem for antelope such as bush buck, blue duiker and cape grey buck, some of the smallest protected South African species of antelope which can only be found within this area. Other species on the farm are Kudu, Nyala, Zebra, Reedbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Impala, Eland, Blesbuck, Blue Wildebees, Waterbuck, Rooihartebees, Bushpig, Warthog, Baboon and Vervet Monkey. The occasional Rooikat [Lynx] and Jackal is also to be found.

There is also a large diversity of South African bird life to be found here for the discerning bird watcher. Marabou, Hammerkop, Blue Crane being the South African national bird, Guineafowel, Red Necked Francolin, Secretary Bird, Black Eagle, Martial Eagle, Crowned Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Knysna Loerie, Grey Loerie, Malachite Kingfisher, Brown Hooded Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Giant Kingfisher, Olive Woodpecker, Crowned Hornbill, Malachite Sunbird, Collared Sunbird and Hoopoe. There are plenty of walking and mountain biking trails to enjoy nature up close and to observe game through the day.

Olivewoods Game farm is a member of the Assegaai Conservancy consisting of approximately fifty members incorporating an estimated sixty thousand hectares through which we have association to alternate hunting facilities and species that may not be offered directly by the hosting venue. Generally they are all mostly within convenient placement to Olivewoods Game Farm which eliminates excessive travel with all game being hunted at no extra premium as to if it was hunted on the host farm.

Within the Conservancy most aspects of game farming incorporating conservation methods and practices are conducted during the course of the year resulting in acceptable trophy gene pools and all related aspects of our facility being available for a selected period of the year.
